TH!NK

Think designs, develops, manufactures and markets environmentally friendly vehicles and technologies. Think has been developing and producing urban mobility solutions since the early 1990’s. In 2008, the company launched the TH!NK city, the latest generation electric vehicle designed and engineered by Think. Think vehicles are designed to be smart, flexible and continuously updated to deliver state-of-the-art urban mobility. Currently, the company operates production facilities in Aurskog, Norway with a plant capacity of 5-10 thousand units per year.

With an eye on the California market, between 1999 and 2003 Ford Motor Company took ownership of the company pumping $150 million into the design of a next-generation City that met European and U.S. safety standards. But when it looked like the California clean air regulations would be dropped, Ford promptly sold Think to a Swiss electronics company. Then later a Norwegian consortium again took control of the company.

The TH!NK factory in the town of Aurskog seems to match the image of Ikea rather than Ford and Detroit. The factory is really an assembly plant. The investment is low and new factories can be 'cloned' easily. Current investors are calling TH!NK ‘The Car Company of the 21st Century”, offering environmentally friendly vehicles produced in an innovative ‘low carbon’ production centre. The organisation represents significant technological and business innovation to foster a world of ‘sustainable mobility’.
